Visiting Athens

(Athens, Greece)

Athens is a superb tourist destination and home to many of the world's most famous and breathtaking landmarks and historic ruins. The capital city of Greece, Athens is famed for its fascinating history and rich culture, welcoming large numbers of visitors each year.

The city of Athens also features an appealing Mediterranean climate, nearby beaches and many lively areas, which were redeveloped and improved when Athens hosted the successful 2004 Olympic Games, transforming the city into an even more appealing place to visit. Although package deals now mean that cheap holidays are possible, the best-placed hotels in Athens are generally quite expensive, particularly during the busy months of July and August.
